The serial number of a Boisselot grand piano is normally to be found on the soundboard, near the treble of the bridge (if it hasn't been erased by a lousy restorer..).
As the archives haven't been found, we can only work by deduction, using the production numbers (that turn out to be exagerated by Marseille reports) and the labels that give the medals obtained by the firm.
The results can then be corrected by comparing them with the dated instruments (Liszt 1844 and 1847, I unfortunately don't have the number of this last piano, now in Weimar, can anyone help?) I believe the final results published here to be precise to within a year either side.
